Flow Regulation

Images of an idea iteration... I'm thinking that the New York Cheddar elements are inflatable and retractable, and the vertical elements are foldable, so the whole system can expand and contract in reaction to traffic flows, slowing accordingly. It would also be (systematically) deployable. Thoughts? Suggestions? Nasty Comments?

I can't see where the unaccepted street is in relation to your forms. Anyway, I think you should start with either folding or inflating, and ask what effect that has not just on the traffic flow but on the program you have proposed. As you slow down the freeway, are you speeding up the space adjacent to the freeway? Is your goal to achieve a more even landscape, a safer landscape, a sexier landscape... or what is your goal, actually?

this reminds me of the bridges in the LA River, with the enlongated piers to resist the force of floodwaters. it's time to go to bed.
