In the mapping of San Francisco multiple topographic systems have become apparent, but two particular landscapes epitomize the character of the city. These systems are separated by various organizational specifics, including geometric and anthropological, nomadic and settled, smooth and striated. The derive / diction will evolve out of this initial understanding and into the exploration of geologic sediments through temporal analysis. Additionally, irregular conditions revealed through mapping present a thread that will be followed loosely (not without deambulation, of course). A systematic documentation of the irregularities, as well as observations of the manipulation of spatial organization (by us and the lines drawn by others) will define the walk / talk.
